When Minecraft first came out, we were surprised at how simple it was to get involved and sink hour after hour into it. However, as you really get to know the game, you end up coming to the realization that it is far more complex than it first appears.
There’s all sorts of extra features and functions to explore, each of which will have a large impact on your gaming experience. Of these, one of the most intricate and useful is trading with villagers. With this feature, the idea is that you will be able to trade items you don’t really need for items that will help you out in the future.
Overall, the feature is quite intricate ad allows you to immerse yourself further into the world of Minecraft. You can progress towards your goals much quicker if you know how it all works. However, the whole process depends on one thing – whether or not the villager you are trying to trade with has the items you are looking for in stock.
Unfortunately, they won’t always have the things that you really are on the hunt for. And, if you trade with them over and over again, they will eventually begin to run out of items for you to trade for. At this point, you will need to wait for a while for the villager to restock their inventory so that you can deal with them again.
The first thing you should know about this process is that they will only restock twice throughout the course of a Minecraft day. So, this is probably regularly enough that you can occasionally get some useful items, but not that often that it makes the game too easy.
However, there are occasions where these villagers won’t restock at all. Sometimes, you can wait for days only to get nothing at all. Seeing as quite a few of you have been reporting this issue, we decided to put together this little guide to explain why the trader isn’t restocking.
So, Why Minecraft Villager Not Restocking?…
Right, so let’s get stuck into the reason why you are having this problem straight away. The main cause of the restocking issue is that your villager may not have a workplace block that they can use. Without a workplace block, your villager will not be able to perform their routine restocks.
So, to remedy the problem, the first thing that we would recommend is that you have specific blocks assigned to each villager. For most of you, this will be enough to fix the problem.
However, if you are still noticing the same issue persisting, we would recommend that you set down the block really close to your villager. Then, make absolutely sure that this block is actually assigned to the right villager.
Next up, you will need to make sure that your villager can access their block whenever they want to. If they can’t reach it, or haven’t got enough space to work in, they won’t be able to restock.
Continuing on with the idea that each villager needs enough space to call their own, we would also highly recommend that you keep your villagers a reasonable distance away from each other. The benefits to this are twofold. Your villagers will have enough space to work, and it will also help to reduce the amount of gossip that they share with each other.
When villagers gossip, it can have all sorts of negative effects. Trade prices can skyrocket and your prestige can take a big downturn. In addition to that, when villagers are too close together, they can end up stealing each other’s beds and workstations.
One Last Tip
Though Minecraft can appear pretty simple to play at first, there’s all sorts of strange quirks to be on the lookout for. Naturally, the same applies here. What we mean by that is, even if you have taken all of the above steps, you may still find that your villagers don’t have any new items.
The only reason for this is that you have to first sleep through the night for these changes to take effect. In fact, for quite a few bugs and issues that can crop up in Minecraft, a great way to resolve them is to first sleep through the night before doing anything more complicated to fix the problem.
Though this tip doesn’t really apply here, remember it for the future as we are sure it will come in handy at some point.
