Dorothy Lee Brown Clark, 92, of 157 Carroll Avenue, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010, at the Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Clark worked as a nurse's aide at Memorial Mission Hospital and retired from Klopman Mills on June 2, 1980. She was a member of The Church of God in Waynesville. Mrs.

Clark enjoyed homemaking, working in her garden, cooking, canning, and making quilts for her family. She was the daughter of the late James Horace and Lula Magnolia Moore Brown, and the wife of the late Rev. Ephram Luther Clark. Mrs. Clark was also preceded in death by a daughter, Eunice Magnolia Aldridge; grandson, James Fred "Jimmy" Clark two granddaughters, Beverly Jean Clark and Cynthia Ann Clark; great granddaughter, Heather Clark; four sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are her sons, James Fred Clark of Denton, Rev. David L. Clark and wife, Judy, of Leicester, and Ben Oliver Clark. of Staley, N.C.; son-in-law, David Aldridge of Waynesville; sisters, Belvie King and husband, Gordon, of Leicester and Artie Johnson of Cullman, brother, Everett Brown of Cruso, N.C.: 14 grandchildren, 19 great -grandchildren and three grandchildren. of people in the U.S.

Assisted by Paula, he did healing work at the pain clinic they started at the Van Allen Hospital in Kodaikanal, India, teaching general practitioners, surgeons and neurosurgeons as well as laymen. Doctors referred their most difficult cases to him. He studied and employed about 20 healing systems, and also mastered and taught the ancient art of Chi Kung, Nei Dan style. Sherwood and Paula's work was featured in The Times of India plus five other major newspapers and several magazines.

While abroad, they wrote columns for The Economic Times on healing, meditation and cross-cultural studies. A devoted friend, Sherwood was always generous with his time and talents. A man of brilliant intelligence and abilities, he always used his skills to help and uplift others. His wisdom lay in the art of living a man who always had the courage to follow his dreams. Leon was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Flora Johnson Fox and three siblings. He was an Army veteran and was a former route salesman for Biltmore Dairies. He is survived by his wife, Paulette Griffin Fox; one daughter, Tammy McCurry of Oakley; and two grandchildren, Courtney and Zachary.

Shane Cassida, and Mary Anne "Annie" Turner of Woodfin; great-grandchildren, Ian and Eli Cassida; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, 'in Cane River Baptist Church. Pastor Shane Cassida will officiate.

FINLEY II ASHEVILLE Sherwood Hayes Kingsmill Finley Il, 63, of Asheville, died Thursday, January 14, 2009, in Asheville of cancer. He was born in New York City in 1946, the older son of the late Gardner and Patricia Finley.

In 1995 he married Paula Gertler, who survives at home. He was devoted to his wife and called their relationship "my greatest accomplishment." Sherwood grew up in Bolton on Lake George, N.Y., graduated from. Glens Fall High School, and attended Ithaca College and the Berklee School of Music in Boston. His career as a professional trumpet player progressed from Troy, N.Y. and Boston to New York City, where he recorded with jazz greats Hank Jones, Remo Palmier, Jule Ruggiero and Mel Lewis on his solo trumpet album, Sunshower.

He was one of the few certified teachers of the Schillinger System of musical composition, and he also did world-class work in the fields of remote viewing and healing. Sherwood and Paula spent 13 years abroad. travelling in India, Sri Lanka, and England before returning to the United States in 2009.
